This is a colorful pet portrait painting of an adorable mixed breed dog named Buddy. It was painted with acrylic paints on an 8″ x 10″ stretched canvas, completed on February 7, 2023. This was great fun, as the request was for colorful realism on a bright rainbow background. Buddy is mostly tan, with some darker brown and black markings, so I used a lot of warm colors, like orange, yellow, and red. Orange was the base, and I used hot pink and red for the shadows and light yellow for the highlights to give his face some definition and make it look more three dimensional. Since the background is rainbow colored I had to find a way to separate his silhouette out so it would not blend into the background, and accomplished this by painting a blue outline around his portrait. The eyes were left their natural color of dark brown, but the outlines of the eyes are in purples and blues. The black nose was painted with various shades of purple and blue as well. I really love his sweet expression and smiling face.

This artwork is not available in my print store, but there are many other dog and cat breeds that are. Please visit RebeccaWangArt.com to see my entire portfolio.
