I have started a new series of colorful animal paintings – colorful wild cats. When I complete more paintings in this series, they will get their own gallery. The first in this series is a Bengal Tiger portrait, titled “Fiery Beauty”, painted with acrylics on gessoed board. I used vibrant full saturation colors to really make the tiger pop! The traditionally orange areas were painted with oranges and yellows and reds. White and black areas were actually painted with cool colors, such as blues and purples. Even the black stripes are not really black, but dark purple. The purple and magenta background is dark to make the tiger pop. Continue reading
My newest painting, the Queen of the Jungle – Leopard, is now available online for purchase as a fine art print and much more in my online stores. Please preview the examples below. This painting was completed in August of 2018, and depicts a leopard resting in the trees. I used warm colors for the creamy yellow areas (red, orange and yellow), with some light blue and green added in to tone down the intensity of the colors, which created an almost brown color. White and light yellow were added on top to lighten. The spots were painted with various shades of blue, purple, and magenta to add contrast to the warm oranges and yellows This painting was created with acrylic paints on board, and measures 11″ wide by 14″ tall. The original is for sale, if you are interested please Contact Me.
I have a new drawing in my gallery. It is titled “Colorful Paisley Peacock” and can be found in the Colorful Animals gallery. It is a stylized peacock with paisley-like designs in its tail feathers. It is based on an older drawing of mine. It is drawn with Prismacolor colored pencils on Strathmore drawing paper, 11″ x 14″. It took me about 35-40 hours to complete this drawing.
New artwork in the Colorful Animals Gallery: “Celtic Horse“. This is painted with acrylic paints on Ampersand pastelbord, 11″ x 14”. Basically just for fun. I chose to use a a limited color palette, a blue monochrome color scheme. I layered different shades of blue and blended the edges together. I wanted the colors to blend together to give it a soft, dreamlike effect.
