My newest painting, titled Small and Sassy – Colorful Chihuahua Dog, was completed a few days ago and is now for sale in my online stores. This is the 7th painting in the Colorful Dog Portraits series. Sable colored dogs have a base coat of reddish-brown hairs tipped in black. This sable chihuahua is also a tricolor because it has white fur on its face and chest. The brownish areas of the dog were painted with bright warm colors, such as red, orange, yellow and magenta, while the black and white areas are represented with cool colors (purple, blue, and green). This painting was created with acrylic paints on board, and measures 11″ wide by 14″ tall.
Photo reference from Pixabay. The Chihuahua is the smallest breed of dog. They were named after the Mexican state of Chihuahua. The breed is ancient, and is believed to have existed for over 2000 years. Modern chihuahuas have less than two percent of their ancestral genetics, due to interbreeding with European dogs since the settlers arrived. However, their form has remained much the same. They come in short haired and long haired varieties, with dozens of coat colors and patterns. They also come in “deer-head” and “apple-head” types, with the apple-head type having more rounded heads and shorter legs than the deer-headed types.
