Hey everyone! I have not been doing a good job keeping up with updating the Blog whenever I add a new image. I have had a few new artworks in the past couple of months, and I will post them here for your viewing pleasure! You can also see these in my Gallery.
These cat cutouts were painted for a veterinary hospital, as numbers for their exam room doors. These were completed in November of 2016. The cat cutouts are made of a wood composite material (not cut out by me, they were ordered on Amazon) and painted with acrylic paint. They were commissioned by one of the doctors who works at the hospital. I think they turned out great! They wanted them to be colorful and original. Of course I painted them in my psychedelic style! 🙂 My favorite is #1.
This is the newest sauce label for Organicville, for their Korma sauce. This lion was drawn with Conté à Paris pastel pencils on white Ampersand Pastelbord, 11″ x 14″, drawn in February of 2017. This is done with a limited palette. I wanted to use contrasting colors to make the shaded areas pop. I like the effect of using cool colors like blue and purple on shadows. This sauce is not yet available, it should be in production later this year.
These two are the most recent drawings, and they are pet portraits drawn in my colorful style. I was recently asked by a friend to draw two of her pets in my style. Both drawn with Conté à Paris pastel pencils on Ampersand white Pastelbord, 8″ x 10″. They were both completed at the end of February, 2017.
I am very pleased with how these turned out and look forward to drawing more pet portraits in this style in the future! These were challenging but rewarding, and I used a new technique of layering multiple colors to achieve a unique effect. The pastelbord has a fine sandpaper-like surface which holds the pastel very well and allows for layering.
